By adding weight to the rider’s foot we found we could facilitate a more open hip angle to achieve a more productive and Correctly Connected seat and core. As the hip angle opens the rider is able to absorb the movement of the horse and confidently lengthen their legs.

The Equisole comes in 2 sizes.  Slim and regular in hand-poured lead, wired together to allow the insole to move with the rider's foot.

They fit discreetly inside the rider's boot for an effective yet unnoticeable gravitational pull that aids the dressage rider in getting a longer, more relaxed leg and encourages jumping riders to sink their weight into their heels and push their hips back.

The weights allow the rider to create new muscle memory and the feel can be reproduced when they are removed. Extra weight for more advanced riders can be added by using with the Equisole EX for for a total of just over 5 pounds of gravitational pull.

To use the Equisole, simply remove the original insole from your riding boots and insert the weighted insole in its place. The insole may creep forward when putting your foot in your boot. Simply shake the boot with the boot toe facing up to keep it in the heel. Most boots have enough space to accommodate the insole and the rider's foot, however the rider may find their boot feels more snug until the boot warms up.

We do not recommend walking long distances in the Equisole. Tack your horse up and put your boots on with the weights right before mounting. Riders with custom boots may find that the weights will not fit.  The slim version is now available and should fit most custom and tight fitting boots. 

Practice riding at the walk without stirrups to feel the weights open and loosen your hip flexors and slowly progress to faster gaits. If you struggle with very tight hip flexors you may only want to work at the walk for your first few times riding. You can also work with shorter stirrups to limit the amount your hips flexors are stretched until you are ready to lengthen them. If you experience any pain beyond the pain of a quality stretch, seek the advice of a physical therapist.

Product Safety & Materials

Our Equisole inserts are designed for use inside a boot and are intended to be worn with socks, which create a barrier between the insert and the skin during normal use.  

The weighted component contains lead, a dense material commonly used for weighting applications. When used as intended—inside footwear and with socks and the lacquer coating, there is limited to zero exposure to lead.  

Safe Use Guidelines

To ensure proper use:

• Always wear socks when using Equisole inserts
• Do not use if the insert becomes damaged, cracked, or begins to degrade

Important Notice

While the risk of exposure under normal use is low, lead can be harmful if ingested or if particles are transferred to the mouth over time. For this reason, these inserts should be handled responsibly and used only as intended.

Due to the nature of hand poured lead there will be variations in the smoothness of the insole. Variation is unavoidable and does not affect the quality of the riders experience.
